The Swiss Banking School is pleased to announce that it will merge into the Swiss
Finance Institute, and will operate under the name of Swiss Finance Institute as of January 1st,
2006, as was indicated in the press on August 20, 2005. At the same time also FAME, a well known
executive education and research institution in Geneva with which the Swiss Banking School has been
working together for the past two years, will merge into the Swiss Finance Institute.
As a world-leading financial centre Switzerland has the natural ambition to be home to world-leading
research and education in banking and finance. It is in pursuit of this goal that the Swiss Finance
Institute was newly established by the Swiss Bankers Association. The Institute is supported by the
Swiss-based banks, Swiss universities and the Swiss government, which are all represented on the
Foundation Board. The purpose of the Swiss Finance Institute is to provide banking and finance
education and research of the highest international level, so as to confirm and strengthen the
position of Switzerland as a leading financial center.
This merger will not affect the current offering of the Swiss Banking School. The well known courses
of Swiss Banking School will be continued with the same attention as in the past to combining modern
academic research with leading practical applications from the industry. The employees of Swiss
Banking School will keep their current responsibilities, and you will continue to be able to reach
the same people in charge of the courses under their old address, telephone and fax numbers.
Over the past 18 years since its inception the Swiss Banking School has been able to develop into a
leading educational institution for bank management in Switzerland. The new more broadly supported
Swiss Finance Institute will now allow us to expand on the work we have been doing these past 18 years,
creating many new opportunities for us, and we are excited about these new prospects.
